House Plans May 25 Hearing on Formula Shortage

Congress seeks to better understand causes to find solutions.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee announced that they have scheduled a hearing for May 25th to gather information about the current infant formula shortage. They have not disclosed who would be involved in the hearing, but the announcement came within a day of Abbott Laboratories, the largest milk formula supplier in the United States, reporting that they would likely resume formula production in two weeks’ time.

“The nationwide infant formula shortages are increasingly alarming and demand Congress’ immediate attention,” said committee chairman Representative Frank Pallone of New Jersey. “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our nation’s children, including safe and nutritious formula, is one of our most important collective responsibilities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they investigate the origins of the shortage.
  • For government officials as they focus on the health and sustenance of infants.
  • For parents and pediatricians as they come up with alternatives during the baby formula shortage.
